Our Board of DirectorsJoe Ann Brooks, Chairman of the BoardJoe Ann is also the General Production Manager/Artistic Director for The ACT and loves working with kids. She founded the children’s theatre in 1999 & has written all but two shows & directed each show for Flower Mound Children's Theatre and The ACT since. Although she's been acting for over 57 years, costume designing and directing for over 45 years, writing plays for over 40 years and writing full length musicals for over 35 years she claims she really hasn't done a thing. She's just the messenger. Someone Higher Up does all the hard stuff! Pat Woodfin, President Pat has been married for 39 years to Don and they have two children and five grandchildren. She attended Texas Women’s University and has thirty plus years in the corporate setting and owns a home based travel agency. Her previous board positions include the Old West Newfoundland Club and the Newfoundland Club of America, providing fundraising, administrative and rescue positions and Project SeaWolf, a non-profit organization committed to environmental issues and issues concerning sea life including, but not limited to orca whales. She is also active in various events of St. Philips Catholic Church. Her granddaughter, McKenzie, 14, brought her to The ACT while looking for a way to do costume design. McKenzie had the opportunity to do this for a TV Show and wanted to do more locally when they both found us. Roxanna Krawczynski, Treasurer Roxanna joined The ACT looking for a way for her boys to become more outgoing. She was asked to audition as well and together they all participated in their first performance, A Christmas Carol. Since then, they have been hooked! Roxanna graduated from Louisiana State University and has a bachelor's degree in Accounting. She has worked in the real estate industry for 20 years and is excited to be involved with The ACT on a professional level as well as personally helping out with the productions. It is a wonderful activity for the entire family. Christine Donaldson, Secretary Christine became involved with The ACT when her young son informed her that he "wanted to be on a big stage with lights," and he has loved performing every since. With seven years of teaching middle school language arts experience, Christine loves to work with young people and especially loves seeing them develop confidence and self esteem, a love for literature, and an appreciation for the theatre. While her son works for the laughs on stage, you can find her organizing volunteers and information for the show as an assistant director or behind the scenes applying makeup as Make-up Coordinator, to one of the actors. She, along with her husband and daughter, are big fans of her son and all of the children in The ACT. Beth Dagenhart Buse, VP Fundraising Beth has been married to Robbie Buse for 15 years and is the mother of two children, Madelynn, 10, and Colten, 7. She enjoys her job and loves to meet new people every day. She is also involved in the Forest Vista PTA as the Historian. Beth enjoys community projects and feels every child should learn to help others. About UsOur History:In 1999, an arts-loving Flower Mound resident took up the standard to create The Flower Mound Children's Theatre. Performing in the town's only community venue, Samuel Lusk Amphitheatre, this little group brought to Flower Mound such productions as The Emperor and the Nightingale and The Wind in the Willows. Sound and lighting were difficult with the lack of proper electrical wiring, the weather didn't always cooperate, and the dirt and splinters were sometimes too much to bear. But the group persevered and was well received by the citizens of the community. A great deal has happened since those first outdoor musicals. Performance and rehearsal space in Flower Mound became difficult to locate as the original Lusk fell into disrepair, so the determined group made the best use of any space available. Yet the true world of the theatre kept nagging at the original creator who wanted the children to have the whole theatrical experience that could result from a real stage production. For its 2004 season, the group, now restructured as The Actors Conservatory Theatre, made its way to its new home, The Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church in Lewisville -- not yet a true theatre, but with a real stage. Here, they improved and refined their resources as they continued the tradition of great children's shows with great sets, theatrical lighting and sound, along with the ever-wonderful costumes and makeup that have been the reputation of this children's theatre. For its 2007 season, The ACT moved into its new home, the Crawford Center for the Arts, in space so generously donated by longtime local arts advocates, R.L. and Brenda Crawford. Their first production of the season, "Bremen Town Musicians", opened to a full house, and the warmth only a children's theatre can bring. |
