The Actors Conservatory Theatre

Audition info:

Auditions take place at the Crawford Center for the Arts, 1720 S. Edmonds Lane in Lewisville. Click here for Directions.

They are held on a Sat. from 2 to 4 for those under ten and from 4 to 6 pm for those ten and over and any adults wishing to take part in our productions. Please see the Current Production or Upcoming Productions for exact dates. During the school year, children must be in kindergarten or above to audition. During the summer, children may be as young as three. There is no upper age limit. There is a $50 registration fee and a $5 cast party fee due at auditions.

The auditions are held on stage, in front of other auditioners. Children are called up on a first come, first served basis. Younger children are asked to recite something short, such as the Pledge of Allegiance and may sing a short song, such as "Twinkle, Twinkle". Older children will do a cold reading from the script with other auditioners. These scenes may be repeated multiple times so the children can get comfortable with the script. They may be asked to read several different parts. A short monologue of 1 minute or less will also be required.

If they want to audition for a singing or dancing role, they should come prepared to sing a short song, (ballad or show tune is suggested) and do a short dance routine. Auditioners should supply their own accompaniment on a CD.

Every child who auditions will receive a role. Callbacks for the entire cast are held the next Tues. from 5 to 7pm.  A mandatory Parent Orientation Meeting will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 pm*. Casting will be completed then and the cast will be listed on this site late Wednesday or very early Thursday morning.  Thursday, a read through of the script is held from 5 to 7 pm to acquaint each actor with their role.  Roles will be posted at the theatre at that time and scripts will be distributed to all cast members who have paid their registration fees ($50), turned in their head shots (or school photo), program bios and paid for the cast party ($5 per person). If you do not have a head shot or school photo, one will be taken for you.  *If the Parents do not attend this meeting, their children are ineligible for a role.

Please read The ACT Company Rules for further information before auditioning. Applications can be downloaded from this page and may be filled out ahead of time but must be signed by a parent or guardian for every child under 18 years of age. All children under ten must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 or older at all rehearsals and performances. A rehearsal calendar for the entire year is also located on this page for your convenience. See sidebar. All items are in Adobe .pdf format and are downloadable.

This is a volunteer driven theatre and your help and support are required and greatly appreciated for the success of each show.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE:
All our auditioners did a great job.  This was very hard for me but I think we have a great cast. The following girls also volunteered to help and I really appreciate their doing so:

Intern Costumer - Madison Michel (see Phyllis Bender CM)
Intern Stage Manager - Monica Music (see Angela Senter SM)

The Second Friday Night Show is traditionally our Understudies Show.  All Understudies will practice alongside their counterparts and be ready for their own show that night!

I look forward to working with all of you!

                                                                     Miss Joe Ann

PS - Don't think you are off the hook if you are an animal!!!  I have special solos and all sorts of tricks up my sleeve for you!  You are all too good!
