    • All participants must be 12 or older by June 2, 2026.

    • All participants are required to attend the TNT Youth Conference in Paris, TX, June 2 – 7, 2026, and pay all costs involved in attending the conference ($105 conference fee, travel, housing, etc.).

    • Cast members pay an additional $95 show participation fee.

    • Participants must be committed to rehearsal attendance, role preparation, consistent practice, and line/song/choreo memorization on a deadline. This is a select show with a short rehearsal schedule. Participants who do not show up to reheardals prepared may have their roles reassigned.

  • How do I sign up?

Please sign up online for an audition time. Audition appointments begin at 4:00 PM on January 12. Music/dance callbacks will take place after all auditions are completed.

Please also complete both pages of the audition application, being sure to accurately indicate your availability on the schedule.

    What roles are available?

All roles are available. However, please be aware that this is a select show and not everyone who auditions will be cast. Previous casting in the tour show is not an indication of casting for this production.

How do I prepare for the audition?

    • MONOLOGUE: Prepare a 1-minute monologue that demonstrates the attitude, personality, and energy of the character you are portraying.  Since there are no mics at TNT, projection and diction are especially important.  You must be able to be clearly heard!

    • SONG: Prepare a 1-minute song excerpt that demonstrates your singing abilities and shows that you can move and act while singing.

    • DANCE CALL: Please arrive wearing clothing that allows for a wide range of movement - no jeans or skirts. Bring jazz shoes and water. Upon arrival, you may stretch and warm up independently (there will not be a group led warm-up).

How do I prepare for the dance call?

    • Choreography WILL NOT be taught at auditions.

    • Teens should learn the choreography from the video provided by Eliana, which should also be on the webpage

    Audition day flow of Events:

    • Acting/singing auditions take place in the theatre.  Teens will be assigned sides and one callback song, if needed.

    • After auditioning, teens are sent to their dance call groups.

    • Callbacks begin immediately afterward.  Teens may be asked to perform pre-selected song cuts or perform cold reads with short sides in small groups.

Being involved in the TNT show is an amazing experience! We hope to see you at auditions!

  • When are callbacks scheduled?

    Callbacks begin immediately afterward.

How do I prepare for the dance call?

Choreography WILL NOT be taught at auditions. Teens should learn the choreography from the video provided by Eliana, which should also be on the webpage

What should I wear to the callback?

How do I prepare for callbacks?

Teens may be asked to perform pre-selected song cuts or perform cold reads with short sides in small groups.

  • For monologues: Please prepare a comedic, age-appropriate, contemporary piece that shows big personality, clear choices, and playful energy. I’ll be looking for strong comic timing, bold character work, emotional clarity, and the ability to stay present in the moment. Physical comedy is a plus.

For songs: Musical theatre selections are preferred, especially pieces that are up-tempo or character-driven. Comedy-friendly songs are a plus. I’m less focused on vocal power and more interested in personality, clarity, and commitment to character.

In general: Across your monologue, song, and callbacks, I’m especially excited to see youthful, innocent, and exuberant energy. Because most of the cast will be portraying first graders, I’m looking for authentic, quirky, childlike performances that highlight individuality, without going over the top or turning into cartoony caricatures.

Things to keep in mind: I’m interested in truthful, grounded portrayals of real kids. Kids aren’t dumb; they’re curious, emotional, literal, and deeply serious about things that adults may think are small. The humor in this show comes from honesty, not exaggeration. Sometimes actors try to show "young" by being silly or clueless. What actually reads younger is specificity: clear wants, strong opinions, and big feelings. To do this:

    ·    Play it honestly, not loudly

    ·    Comedy comes from how real it is

    ·    First graders don’t know they’re funny

    ·    Junie B. and her classmates are smart in their own way; they just haven’t learned adult rules yet

  • How do I get involved as a crew member?

Stage manager/crew applicants do not need to audition, but must also submit a completed show application with conflicts marked.

Complete both pages of the audition application, being sure to accurately indicate your availability on the schedule.

I won’t be auditioning. How and when do I turn in my crew application?

Applications may be turned in on or before Monday, January 12 to Ms. Christine’s inbox, located in The ACT office. Applications may also be filled out, scanned, and emailed to Ms. Christine.

How will I know if I have been selected as a crew member?

The production team will be in touch with you about your crew position.

As a crew member, do I pay the $95 show participation fee?

No. Only cast members pay this fee.

  • Join Junie B. on her first day of first grade, where many changes are in store! Not only has Junie's best friend, Lucille, found new best friends, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Then, while in Mr. Scary's class, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard — does she need glasses? Add in a friendly cafeteria lady, an intense kickball tournament, and a "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal," and first grade has never been more exciting.

From Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, Junie B. Jones JR. is a delightful adaptation of four of Barbara Park's best-selling books. Featuring many lovable characters and fun-filled songs, this show will capture your the hearts of your performers and your audiences, just as the books captivated an entire generation of students.

Book and Lyrics by Marcy Heisler. Music by Zina Goldrich. Adapted from the JUNIE B. JONES Series of books by Barbara Park. Junie B. Jones JR. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
